'Boutique' PR Firm Sues Sharon Stone

BROOKLYN (CN) - Sharon Stone, hospitalized in Brazil, missed appearances in Ecuador to publicize big oil's devastation of the Amazon, and kept her $275,000 fee, a "boutique public relations firm" claims in court.

     MCSquared PR, a Brooklyn-based PR firm, sued Stone and the Massachusetts-based talent agency American Program Bureau on Tuesday in Federal Court.

     It claims it laid out $275,000 for Stone to appear in Ecuador for three days in April 2014 to help the country publicize the environmental damage to the Amazon by Chevron's predecessor, Texaco.

     MCSquared claims Stone gave it just two hours notice that she was canceling because she was hospitalized in Sao Paulo.

     It claims it lost another $77,000 because of Stone's "diva-like requests," including first-class flights, luxury hotels for her and three friends, hair and make-up teams and personal guides.

     The PR firm wants at least $352,000 for breach of contract, fraudulent inducement, conspiracy to defraud and conversion.

     It is represented by Rodrigo Da Silva of Miami.

     Stone, whose professional career began as an actress in 1977, achieved worldwide fame as an actress in the 1992 film, "Basic Instinct."
